Chief Medical Officer 

José J. López, MD, MBA, FACEP, leads all medical staff and healthcare professionals, including the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician-employed group of more than 160 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

He also holds administrative and operational responsibilities for Holy Cross Health while building patient-centered, collaborative cultures that achieve results.

During his more than 20-year career, Dr. Lopez has served patients with the highest standards of excellence and has championed and led multiple national and international endeavors with world-class integrated healthcare providers.

Dr. López previously served as Chief Executive Officer at Healthpoint Hospital in Abu Dhabi, where he positioned the hospital as a dominant provider in the local market serving nearly 1,700 patients daily.  Before that, he established and was Chief of the award-winning Emergency Medicine Institute at Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi.

Board-certified by the American College of Emergency Medicine, Dr. López earned his M.D., completed his residency, and was chief resident in emergency medicine the University of Massachusetts. He received an MBA in Medical Services Management from John Hopkins University and holds a certificate in managing health care delivery from Harvard Business School. Dr. López graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Tufts University.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. López is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
