Comprehensive Pulmonary Rehab Open House - Wednesday, November 20 from 10 AM until 5 PM

Meet the Pulmonary Rehab team and ‘Just Breathe‘ on Nov. 20, World COPD Day. No RSVP required.

We are pleased to announce the official opening of the new Holy Cross Health Comprehensive Pulmonary Rehab program on October 15, 2024. Pulmonary Rehab is relocating to the Catherine Yardley Comprehensive Pulmonary Center in suite 201 of the Jim Moran Heart and Vascular Center at Holy Cross Health.

In addition to exercise, the team will provide a structured, fun, interactive program to support patient-tailored therapies.

The community-at-large is welcome to attend the Nov 20 Open House to  meet the team and learn more about the program.

“A combination of exercise training, education, and behavior modification improves the physical and psychological condition of people with chronic lung disease and promotes the long-term adherence to health-enhancing behaviors,” said Helen Visco, Manager of the COPD Clinic. ”In addition to treating COPD, the benefits are now recognized for other chronic lung diseases, such as interstitial lung disease (ILD), pulmonary hypertension (PH), asthma, bronchiectasis (cystic fibrosis and non-cystic fibrosis), lung cancer, and those preparing for or recovering from lung transplant/thoracic surgery or from SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19).”

The pulmonary rehabilitation classes will be led by specialized respiratory therapists who hold certifications as Pulmonary Disease Educators and/or Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Tobacco Treatment Specialists. In addition to the respiratory therapists, the program is led by an exercise physiologist who focuses on personalized healthy living plans.  The program will be overseen by Ronald Scott, MD, Medical Director. Together, we will provide patients with nutritional counseling, physical fitness routines and holistic approaches (such as Tai Chi and meditation) to ease anxiety.

“We will be here every step of the way and arm you with the knowledge, tools and resources for you to keep you breathing easy in the face of lung disease,” Visco said.
