Holy Cross Health Adds New Vision Withdrawal Management Service for Patients Battling Addiction

Starting March 1, 2002, Holy Cross Health will offer medical detoxification services to help people overcome withdrawal symptoms from drug and alcohol addictions through the New Vision withdrawal management service.

The New Vision service treats adults with a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient stabilization, which usually lasts three days. The patient is able to detox from a substance in a safe, medically supervised environment.

This new service offering will provide a viable option and hope for individuals and families working to break free from addiction."

New Vision at Holy Cross Health will provide treatment for substances including opioids (heroin, OxyContin, Percocet); alcohol; cocaine; benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax); methamphetamine; and combined substances.

Discharge planning will occur prior to leaving the hospital; the patient will be referred to appropriate community-based treatment programs to help prevent relapse and continue their treatment.

New Vision accepts patients who self-refer: a physician’s referral is not necessary for admission. Patients can only be admitted by a licensed physician, and will be admitted five days a week.
