Holy Cross Health Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Razvan Nicolescu, M.D., MBA
Fort Lauderdale, Florida (October 11, 2023) – Orthopedic Surgeon Razvan Nicolescu, M.D., MBA has joined the Holy Cross Health Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 130 physicians providing services throughout Broward County.
A specialist in hand, wrist, elbow and microvascular surgery, Dr. Nicolescu is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. After completing a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Nicolescu was an orthopedic surgeon at Avera Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota.
Coming back to Florida is a homecoming for Dr. Nicolescu who grew up in Miami, graduating from Miami Beach Senior High School where he was a three-time conference tennis champion. He then went on to graduate magna cum laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in neurobiology and minor in chemistry.
Dr. Nicolescu remained a Hurricane, continuing on to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine on an academic scholarship, graduating in the top 10% of his class with a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Business Administration and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, where he also conducted research in the division of oncology. He also conducted research and gained work experience at the Max Biedermann Institute for Biomechanics / University of Miami Department of Orthopaedics and Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Nicolescu has been published in peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented at annual meetings of the American Association of Hand Surgery, Orthopedic Trauma Association, Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society and American Orthopedic Association. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Miami covering several topics, including treatment of metaphyseal tibia fractures, Dupuytren’s disease and bone forming tumors, among others.
Fluent in English, Spanish and Romanian, Dr. Nicolescu is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association and AO Trauma, the largest global group of dedicated orthopedic and trauma surgeons, researchers and operating room personnel striving for excellence and volunteering for a common goal.
