FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Holy Cross Hospital recently became one of the first hospitals in Florida to offer its patients the MyCareLink ™ Patient Monitor––a simplified remote monitoring system with global cellular technology that transmits patients’ cardiac device diagnostic data to their clinicians from nearly any location in the world where a cellular signal is available.

Using Medtronic’s latest remote monitoring system available, patients with Medtronic implanted cardiac devices at Holy Cross Hospital will be able to transmit important device data from their pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) or implantable cardiac monitors (ICMs) with a simplified, step-by-step remote monitor that uses patient-friendly visual prompts, fewer wires than its predecessor, and connectivity to a global cellular network. The monitor allows clinicians to do a quick check “interrogation” of a patient’s device.

“This remote monitoring technology will help our facility provide effective and efficient service to our patients with cardiac devices, making it easier for patients to transmit their data, compared to in-office visits,” said Patrick A. Taylor, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer  of Holy Cross Hospital. “The simplified, user-friendly design and interface make it easy for patients to set up the monitor – even when they travel.  And our clinicians can continue to follow these patients from any location that has a cellular connection.”

Remote monitoring allows patients with Medtronic cardiac devices to have regularly scheduled device checks done remotely – via the Medtronic CareLink® Network – to ensure their device is functioning properly. Physicians receive the cardiac device data and are able to determine any necessary follow-up in a timely fashion.
