UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI AT HOLY CROSS INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENTS NOW SEEING PATIENTS FULL TIME AT TWO BROWARD COUNTY LOCATIONS
September 11, 2019University of Miami at Holy Cross Internal Medicine residents practice under the supervision of experienced UM-HCH faculty and provide a wide range of patient-centered services, including primary care, preventive health, well-women examinations and internal medicine.
Patients may be seen at the Holy Cross Medical Group's Wilton Manors and North Ridge locations Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., except for Wednesday afternoons when the faculty and residents are in academic conferences.
Established in 2015, the UM-HCH Internal Medicine Residency Program was created to narrow the void of primary care physicians in underserved areas.
"There is a strong emphasis on ambulatory medicine in our training program, and the Wilton Manors and North Ridge practice sites allow us to provide outstanding patient care while training future primary care and specialty physicians for South Florida," said Dr. Frederick Williams, program director of the UM-HCH Internal Medicine Residency Program and assistant director of graduate medical education for the Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Howard Koch, associate program director, said, "This program has elevated the medical care delivered to South Florida residents by transitioning a well-established hospital into an academic institution. As a lifelong resident of Broward County and a practicing internist for 38 years, I am honored to teach and work alongside these fine young physicians."
