Arrhythmia
Atrial Fibrillation
Atrial Fibrillation (also referred to as AF or Afib) is the most common type of irregular heartbeat. Irregular heartbeats can lead to blood pooling and clotting, which can cause stroke and other serious health issues. People who suffer from afib may have palpitations (a sudden pounding, fluttering or racing feeling in the chest), lack of energy, dizziness, chest discomfort, and difficulty breathing during normal activities or even at rest. Luckily, atrial fibrillation is curable.
What Our Patients Can Expect
Holy Cross Hospital is staffed with expert Cardiac Electrophysiologists (EP) who specialize in the electrical disorders of the heart. We help patients who are finding out for the first time that they suffer from Afib and also patients who have tried other treatment options with no success and are looking for new solutions. Our EPs can make the diagnosis and discuss with each patient what the most appropriate treatment is for their given situation. Whether it is medication, or ceasing the use of blood thinners to undergo interventional treatment, our EPs will work with you to find a solution and the appropriate specialist. We offer comprehensive treatment options and are dedicated to providing you with the appropriate solution to cure atrial fibrillation. In addition, we offer telemedicine (you can travel and keep your a-fib under control with a Loop monitor).
