UM-Holy Cross Hospital Residency Program
Holy Cross Hospital and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Internal Medicine Residency Program is accredited by the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
As a result of the significant increase of medical specialists, the residency program was created to train residents in primary care and prepare them for the changing healthcare environment - specifically, a monumental shift towards ambulatory medical care.
The Internal Medicine residents will do rotations at Holy Cross Hospital and in ambulatory settings. They volunteering at Light of the World, a local nonprofit clinic established in 1989 by the late Dr. Erwin Vasquez to provide free medical care to impoverished patients, and at the Broward Community and Family Health Centers, a non-profit organization that provides treatment to underinsured and uninsured individuals and families throughout Broward County.
The Holy Cross residency program teaches that community service is an inherent part of being a physician and that healthcare is becoming much more prevalent at ambulatory sites.
